A Thanksgiving in Spain

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  Maybe it's because it was the first official break I got when I was in college.  Time to take a break from the midterms and head home for a stress free week without the worries of school.  Maybe I love thanksgiving because it's the only time out of the year I get to spend time with my extended family.  Or maybe it's because on that one day I'm free to eat as much as I want and not feel like a slob afterward.  It could also be because it's the time of the year when football starts getting really good and the summer heat has finally melted away.  Or maybe it's all of those reasons that make Thanksgiving so special for me.   But would Thanksgiving be special this year?

All the way in Spain and wanting so badly to be with family on this American holiday didn't stop me from having the best Thanksgiving party of my life.  My roommates and I decided that we were going to host a Thanksgiving dinner with all of our friends here in Motril.  It took us two days to prepare all of the food, including a turkey that had been killed the day before we brought it home.  We even put together party favors (little turkey's) to give to all the guests.  Overall the Thanksgiving feast turned out great and made up for the fact that I was not with my family on this wonderful holiday.  I was very thankful for being able to share my traditions of this great holiday with my new friends here in Spain and even more thankful for the opportunity to live here for a year (10 months).

Here are some pictures of our great night and a short video of our experience!
